Franchising your business without three expensive mistakes

The Virtual C-Suite helps owners franchise a business they have proven in one or two locations: the franchise disclosure document and agreements, the technology stack every unit will run, the security and compliance standards, and the financial model that makes a unit sellable. Our partners have operated franchise units, built franchise management software, and reviewed franchise agreements from both sides.

What usually goes wrong

  1. The FDD is written by a franchise lawyer who has never operated a unit, so the operations manual it references does not exist yet
  2. The technology that works in the founder's location (a spreadsheet, a consumer app, a cousin's point-of-sale) cannot be reproduced across 20 units, and the first franchisee finds out
  3. Unit-level data never reaches the franchisor because nobody specified it, so royalties are an argument
  4. Brand, trademark and data ownership between franchisor and franchisee are never written down
  5. Security and incident standards vary by unit, and the first incident lands on the brand

What we do in the first 90 days

  1. Weeks 1 to 2Review the existing operation, agreements and systems.
  2. Week 3Findings and the franchise-readiness list.
  3. Weeks 4 to 12VGC on FDD and agreement review with your franchise counsel, trademark filing, data and IP ownership terms; vCIO on the unit technology standard, franchisee onboarding stack and reporting; vCSO on the unit security and incident standard.
  4. Day 90The package a first franchisee can be sold with.
